The Una Group
Crumb Rubber Ltd was developed in conjunction with The Una Group. This is a diversified range of businesses grouped together under 3 core areas: business support services, commercial property development and environmental activities.
The co-founders set up Crumb Rubber Ltd with the aim of supporting legal changes that came into force in 2006 outlawing tyres from being dumped in landfill. In the UK alone, 37 million used tyres are generated each year and is a major quest of the Environmental Agency to address tyre "abandonment" by supporting such initiatives.
Crumb Rubber Ltd provides a robust chain of custody for the tyre industry ensuring a confidence that their end-of-life tyres have been responsibly recycled.
Foresight Group
In 2009, Crumb Rubber secured £4million equity investment from the Foresight Group, a leading alternative asset manager specialising in developing the infrastructure the UK needs to meet its landfill diversion and recycling targets.
The investment process endorsed the future prospects of the company, which was seen by the investors as the most sustainable opportunity amongst the variety of tyre recycling processes vying for their attention.
Foresight Group investment has given the company the means to broaden the scope of its business and drive future growth.
Outstanding New Business Award for Plymouth 2009
In September 2009 Crumb Rubber Ltd won the Outstanding New Business Award for Plymouth. The award was sponsored by Plymouth City Development Company and recognised any Plymouth-based businesses with less than three years trading that could demonstrate how they have successfully made the transition from concept to viable business, or are in the process of doing so, with good future prospects and exciting plans for the future.
The reward was collected by Patrick Dormon, MD of Crumb Rubber Ltd, who said "It is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of all Crumb Rubber employees and the Board, and it was a privilege to not only have been nominated but to win and collect the award on behalf of everyone at Crumb Rubber."
